Getting started

What is SiteSprout?

SiteSprout helps you find local businesses that have no website (or a broken one), build each of them a free preview of their new site in minutes, and contact them with ready-made scripts until they become paying clients.

Do I need web design experience?

No. You can start from a template and edit the text, or describe the site you want and let AI design it. The guided Path walks you through every step, from setting your prices to landing your first client.

What is the Path?

Path is a checklist of 14 steps in the order that works: set up your details and prices, pick one type of business, build sample sites, find leads, make previews, contact businesses, follow up and close. Each step explains why it matters and links to the right screen.

What does the Today screen show?

Today shows the follow-ups that are due, your progress toward your daily and monthly goals, and the best next thing to do. Start each day there.

I have an invite code. How do I join?

Open your invite link, or go to sitesprout.app, choose “I have an invite code”, then sign up with Google or with an email and password. Each code works once.

Finding businesses

What's the difference between Google and Open map search?

Google search finds the most businesses, with phone numbers, websites and reviews. Open map search uses free OpenStreetMap data: it's free to use (25 searches a day) but has fewer businesses and fewer phone numbers.

How many searches do I get?

Free accounts get 30 Google searches a month while free seats last, plus 25 open map searches a day. Members pay 5¢ per Google search from their credit. One search finds up to 20 businesses.

It says all free Google seats are taken. What now?

Free Google searches are shared between a limited number of free accounts. A seat opens up when someone stops using the app for 14 days. Meanwhile you can use open map search for free, or become a member to search Google anytime.

What does the score mean?

The score (0 to 100) shows how likely a business is to need you. Businesses with no website, only a social page, a broken or insecure site, good reviews and a phone number score highest.

Why did a lead's phone number or address disappear?

Google's rules only allow apps to keep business details for 30 days. SiteSprout refreshes them automatically. If a refresh wasn't possible, open the lead and tap “Refresh details”. Your notes, stage and contact history are never removed.

Where did my last search go?

Your recent searches are saved to your account for 30 days. On Find, tap one under Recent searches to see its results again, on any device, even after a refresh. Re-opening a search is free.

How do I remove many leads at once?

On Leads, tap Select, tick the ones you want (or Select all), then Remove or Move to Not now. Use the Website filter to show only leads that already have a website. If you saved shops that turn out to have a working website, a banner offers to remove them in one tap.

Can I export my leads?

Yes. On Leads, “Export my pipeline” downloads a spreadsheet with your stages, notes, follow-up dates, deal values and a map link for each business. Google's rules don't allow exporting their phone numbers and addresses.

Websites and previews

How do I make a preview for a business?

Open the lead and tap “Build their preview”, or go to Websites. The business's details fill in for you. Pick a look, add a photo, and edit any text.

How do share links work?

In the website builder, tap “Get a share link”. The link is private (search engines don't list it), you can update it after edits, and you can turn it off anytime. Free accounts can keep 3 links live, members 100.

Can I use a site I made somewhere else?

Yes. In Websites, upload an .html file or a .zip of a site folder (up to 10 MB and 60 files) and get a share link, or attach a link from Wix, Squarespace, Carrd or Canva to the lead.

Are the websites set up for Google (SEO)?

Yes, every website made in SiteSprout, from a template or AI, comes ready for search: a title and description with the type of business and city, the business name, phone, address and hours in the format Google reads (structured data), link previews for WhatsApp and Facebook, fonts that don't slow the page down, readable colors and a layout built for phones. Once you save the client's live address in Clients, the download also includes its official address (canonical). Then use Clients → Get found on Google for the one-time steps: Search Console, Bing, a speed check and a business details check. Nobody can promise a #1 ranking, but these are the basics Google looks for.

How do I give the finished website to my client?

Download the website from the builder and publish it (Netlify Drop is free: drag the folder onto the page). Then connect the domain your client bought, and add the link to their Google Business Profile.

AI design

How does AI design work?

Describe the look you want, like “modern and dark with a big Book now button”. The AI writes a custom one-page website from your words and the business's details in about a minute. Then ask for changes in plain words. Undoing the last change is free.

What does AI design cost?

Members pay 10¢ per design or change, or 20¢ for premium quality, from their credit. If a design fails, the credit comes back automatically.

Can I try AI on the free plan?

Yes, once. Free accounts can buy a one-time $5 AI trial, which covers up to 50 designs or changes. When it's used up, AI design is part of the membership. Unused trial credit carries over if you join.

Contacting businesses and clients

Which script should I use?

Scripts has openers for walking in, calling, voicemail, Facebook or Instagram messages and email, plus follow-ups and what to say after a yes. Each lead suggests the best one. Your name, the business name and your preview link fill in automatically.

How do follow-ups work?

When you log a contact, SiteSprout sets the next follow-up for you (after 2, 4, 7 and then 14 days), or sooner if they asked you to call back. Due follow-ups show on Today.

How much should I charge?

Set your prices in My details. The “Set your prices” step on the Path explains how to choose a price for a one-page site, a bigger site and a monthly care plan. The Money screen tracks what you've earned and what's in your pipeline.

How do I send a proposal?

Open the lead and tap Proposal. It fills in the business, your prices and what's included. Print it or save it as a PDF to send.

Where do I manage clients on a care plan?

Open Clients in the menu. Each client has their web address and renewal date, hosting and what it costs you, the care plan price and payments, a monthly care checklist, change requests, contact details and a work log. Renewals, late payments, sites that look down and open requests show at the top and on Today. “Send monthly report” writes an email for the owner listing what you did that month. Keep passwords in a password manager, not in SiteSprout.

How do I show a client what their website brings in?

When you download a client's site from Websites, it includes a small counter (no cookies, no personal data) that counts visits and taps on Call, Directions, email/text links and form sends. The numbers show in Clients → Results and at the top of the monthly report, compared with last month. For a site made elsewhere, copy the counter code from Results and paste it before </body>. The counts are taps, not confirmed calls or sales.

What is the Growth plan?

A higher monthly plan you can offer clients: everything in Care, plus help getting Google reviews, posts on their Google Business Profile, replies to reviews and one improvement to the site each month. Set its price in Money → Your prices, and switch a client in Clients → Plan & payments. Their monthly checklist grows to match.

What is the review kit?

Clients → Reviews gives you the shop's Google review link (made automatically for shops found with Google search, or paste it from their Google Business Profile), a QR code, printable counter cards, and a ready text and email for the owner to send happy customers. Never write reviews yourself or offer gifts for reviews; Google doesn't allow it.

Can a template have several pages?

Yes. In the Website builder, under Layout & extra sections, choose Multi-page to get Home, Services, About and Contact pages in one file. You can also add an emergency call bar, a special offer bar, an online booking link (Square, Booksy, Calendly), your service area, why choose us points and common questions. Empty boxes are simply left off.

What are trade playbooks?

What to say → Trade playbooks has one page per trade (barbers, salons, restaurants, auto repair, plumbers and more): the result that owner cares about most, what one new customer is usually worth, suggested prices, an opener built around their problem, the objection you'll hear, what their website needs, and Google post ideas. “Use these as my prices” copies the prices into My details. Each lead also shows its trade's opener.

What is the “What's missing” check on a lead?

It lists what's holding the business back online, from what SiteSprout can see: no website, a social page only, a site that's down or “Not secure”, few reviews or a low rating compared with similar businesses you've saved nearby. Copy it for the owner or print a one-page audit to bring with their preview. It only states what the data shows.

Can AI write Google posts and review replies?

Yes. In Clients → Reviews & Google, pick a post idea (or type your own) or paste a review, and get 3 drafts for 2¢. The AI only uses the details you give it and never invents prices or offers. Always read and edit the drafts, and let the owner approve what's posted.

Can my clients' websites have an AI chat assistant?

Yes. In Clients → AI assistant, enter the owner's services with their usual low and high price and how long each job takes, their hours, extra charges and common questions. The assistant then answers visitors, asks what the problem is, gives an estimate range from those prices (always called an estimate), takes appointment requests inside their hours (the owner confirms), and emails each request to the owner right away. It always says it's an AI. Try it in the setup screen for free; on a live site it costs 5¢ per conversation from your credit. Downloads of the client's site include it automatically while it's on.

What is the owner page?

A private page you can give each client (the business owner), with your name on it. It shows whether their website is up, this month's visits and call taps, requests from their AI chat, what you did for them this month, their plan and renewals, and a box to send you change requests. Turn it on in Clients → Owner page and text or email them the link. Their requests land in Clients → Requests and your email; when you tick one off, they see it as done.

What is missed-call text-back?

When a client's shop can't answer, the call forwards to a SiteSprout number that texts the caller right away (“Sorry we missed your call, how can we help?”). Their reply is emailed to the owner. Request it in Clients → Missed calls. US carriers require each business to be registered for texting first; SiteSprout does that and emails you when the number is ready (a few days to two weeks). Then set up forwarding of unanswered calls on the shop's phone (instructions are in the tab). It costs $5 a month per client plus 10¢ per missed call texted back. Each caller is texted at most once a day, and anyone who replies STOP is never texted again.

Is this spam?

No. You contact businesses one at a time, about a website you made for them. Always say who you are, stop if they ask, and put your mailing address in emails (US law requires it; add it in My details). See the Outreach rules for more.

Plans and billing

How does paying work?

Membership is $15 a month plus a usage budget you choose. The budget becomes credit, and each Google search (5¢) or AI design (10¢, premium 20¢) takes a few cents from it. Unused credit rolls over.

What happens when my credit runs out?

Paid actions pause until you top up or your next budget arrives. Open map search, templates and everything else keep working. You're never billed more than the membership, your budget and the top-ups you choose.

How do I change my budget or top up?

On Plan & billing. A new budget applies from your next monthly payment. Top-ups of $5, $10 or $20 are added right away.

What happens if I cancel?

Your membership ends right away and you go back to the free plan. Your leads and websites stay. Unused credit is refunded to your card automatically; the $15 for the current month isn't.

I have a discount code. Where do I enter it?

On the payment page when you become a member. Discount codes take money off the $15 membership.

Account and privacy

Can I change how the app looks?

Yes. In My details under Look, pick Friendly (bright, with tips on every screen) or Pro mode (a dense dark workspace for people who already build websites). Friendly also comes in Light, Dark, or Match my device. Your choice follows you to every device.

Can I invite friends?

Yes. Every account gets 5 invite codes. Find them in My details under “Invite friends” and tap “Copy invite link”.

Can I use SiteSprout on my phone and computer?

Yes. Your work saves to your account and appears on every device you sign in on. If you lose connection, changes are kept on the device and saved when you're back online.

I forgot my password.

On the sign-in screen, tap “Forgot password?” and we'll email you a link. If you signed up with Google, just tap “Continue with Google”.

How do I stop offer emails?

Every offer email has an Unsubscribe link at the bottom. Account emails (like password resets) still arrive.

How do I see or delete my data?

Send a privacy request from the Contact page and we'll handle it. The Privacy policy explains what we keep and why.

Still stuck? Contact us. We usually reply within 2 business days.
